About the project
The web-site “Human Rights in Tajikistan” has been developed in the framework of the Project: “Capacity Building for NGOs in Monitoring Human Rights in Tajikistan”. The project is implemented by the Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law in partnership with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights ((OSCE/ODIHR)). The project is financed by the Canadian Agency for international development (CIDA). The aim of the project is to strengthen the role of young NGO activists and enhance their contributions to the protection of practical human rights.
The project provides a series of seminars for NGO representatives from the regions of Tajikistan (GBAO, Sogd and Khatlon regions) on human rights, mechanisms of human rights protection, strategies and techniques of human rights monitoring, strategic planning of activity of NGOs. Within the framework of the program monitoring of Human Rights are also carried out.
The ‘Human Rights in Tajikistan’ Information Portal is also provided in the framework of the Project. Any one interested in obtaining more information about Human Rights in Tajikistan, actions by governmental bodies, NGOs and international organizations, international documents and national legislation on Human Rights as well as other useful information, will find this website useful. This is also a forum for NGOs to place information about their activities and projects, as well as exchange information and experiences on different issues relevant to the work of human rights defenders.
